Where healing begins with the body's deeper knowing, beyond the mind's reach

Wisdom Beyond The Intellect

True healing unfolds when body and mind are invited to work in sacred tandem. Within Integrative Somatic Therapy Practice (ISTP)™, trauma healing emerges through a tender reconnection—where the body and mind are brought into relationship and held within a vision of wholeness, interconnectedness, and reverence for the full breadth of human experience. When we honour the body’s intuitive knowing alongside the mind’s understanding, we create the conditions for transformation that is genuine, embodied, and enduring.

Rather than seeking only to alleviate symptoms, ISTP™ invites a compassionate journey inward—an exploration of the ways our inner landscape shapes our lived experience and well-being. When we learn to fully inhabit our bodies, we reconnect with a deeper source of knowing. In ISTP™, we listen for the body’s quiet wisdom—a language that speaks beyond thought and analysis. Through this embodied awareness, healing becomes not merely the absence of suffering, but a return to greater authenticity, connection, and wholeness.

What ISTP™ Is

Integrative Somatic Therapy Practice (ISTP)™ is a body-centred, spiritually grounded psychotherapy approach for trauma healing. Rooted in humanistic, relational, and spiritual perspectives, ISTP™ supports the emotional, psychological, and spiritual dimensions of recovery.

When body, mind, and spirit come into sacred communion, the inner self becomes more clearly revealed. A sense of balance is gently restored. The body becomes a living vessel of revelation — disclosing dimensions of our being, and of the universe, that often remain veiled in the patterns of ordinary life.

Developed by Ratha Chek, Registered Clinical Counsellor, ISTP™ emerged from an intuitive knowing cultivated through three decades of practice: that true healing unfolds when body, mind, and spirit are welcomed into relationship with one another. Blending evidence-informed approaches with a deep respect for the body’s inherent wisdom, ISTP™ creates space for emotional and physical healing by awakening self-awareness, nurturing self-compassion, and supporting the natural flow of breath, energy, and life force. Through this process, individuals are invited to reconnect with their authentic selves and move toward greater wholeness, balance, and well-being.

The Ten Practices of ISTP™

ISTP™ integrates  trauma-informed, bottom-up healing practices into one cohesive path of somatic transformation:

  • Mindfulness as Sacred Presence — cultivating awareness with reverence
  • Restorative Posture as Relaxation Support — enhancing nervous system regulation through gentle, supported shapes that invite safety, ease, and deep physiological settling
  • Breathwork as a Gateway to Healing — accessing deeper layers of experience
  • Somatic Bodywork as Embodied Support — restoring connection through touch and sensation
  • Embodied Resilience as Inner Steadiness — strengthening the capacity to stay present
  • Sound Healing as Vibrational Restoration — harmonizing the nervous system
  • Ceremony as Intentional Practice — marking transitions with meaning
  • Ancestral Reverence as Connection to Lineage — honouring the wisdom that came before
  • Bioenergetic Unwinding as Energetic Release — freeing held patterns (expressions) in the body
  • Processing and Integration as Grounded Transformation — weaving insights into daily life

The Heart of the Work

This practice invites a tender and compassionate relationship with the body — one that supports healing that is integrative, restorative, and enduring. Individuals are gently guided to release trauma held in the body, reconnect with their inner resources, and experience a renewed sense of self‑efficacy. As the body softens and the nervous system finds steadiness, emotional resilience naturally expands, allowing individuals to meet life’s circumstances with greater clarity, openness, and heart.

Through this work, individuals reconnect with their inherent wholeness and rediscover the wisdom that has always lived within them — a quiet, steady knowing that emerges when body, mind, and spirit return to sacred alignment.

Intuitively weaving diverse healing practices, honouring the body, mind, and spirit as one sacred whole.

CEREMONY is an essential pillar of Integrative Somatic Therapy Practice (ISTP)™. We honour the understanding that physical and spiritual health are inseparable—body and spirit must heal together. Traditional healing ceremonies remind us that wellness is not only a personal journey but a continuation of ancient relationships with Spirit, Creator, and the Universe. Through prayer, chants, drumming, songs, stories, and the presence of sacred objects, ceremony becomes a living bridge between the seen and unseen worlds.

Ceremony roots us in what has come before. It connects us to our ancestors, our lineages, and the wisdom carried through generations. In remembering, we are steadied. In honouring the past, we strengthen our capacity to meet the present with clarity, resilience, and reverence.

Within our trainings, ceremony gathers students into community. It is a moment of arrival—where we come together, witness one another, and cultivate unity in both healing and learning. Through shared ritual, we create a sacred container that supports transformation, belonging, and the deep relational field that makes ISTP™ so profoundly healing.

Registered Clinical Counsellor | Founder of ISTP

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor and the founder of Integrative Somatic Therapy Practice (ISTP)™, the Integrative Somatic Studies Institute, and the Body Mind Soul Healing Centre. For over 30 years, I have walked alongside individuals on their healing journeys, bringing the depth of counselling, psychotherapy, and trauma‑informed wisdom into my training, mentorship, and clinical supervision. My formal education in Counselling Psychology is complemented by teachings in Therapeutic Yoga, Breathwork, Thai Yoga Massage, Bodywork, and Shamanic traditions — pathways that have shaped my understanding of healing as a sacred, embodied, and intuitive process.

In my early years of practice, I came to recognize a profound truth: when healing focuses solely on the mind, the body’s voice is often left unheard. The mind can distract, protect, or obscure — but the body never lies. It speaks in sensation, breath, and energy. It carries our stories, our wounds, and our wisdom. When we learn to listen, the body becomes a sacred guide.

Through years of sitting with clients, I witnessed again and again that disconnection from the body sustains suffering, while reconnection awakens healing, clarity, and wholeness. This understanding became the foundation of ISTP™ — a practice that weaves diverse healing traditions into one cohesive, spiritually grounded path for releasing body‑stored trauma.

While many treatment models remain separate, ISTP™ honours the sacred interconnectedness of body, mind, and spirit. It is a return to the ancient truth that healing is not linear — it is relational, intuitive, and deeply embodied.

For many of my clients, I am often their last stop — a role I hold with humility and reverence. I am continually inspired by their courage, their resilience, and the profound transformations that unfold when the body is received again as a sacred companion.
