Integrative Somatic Therapy Practice (ISTP)™
Where healing begins with the body's deeper knowing, beyond the mind's reach

Wisdom Beyond The Intellect
True healing unfolds when body and mind are invited into relationship. Guided by a sacred understanding of wholeness and interconnectedness, Integrative Somatic Therapy Practice (ISTP)™ honours the full breadth of human experience. Rather than focusing solely on symptom reduction, ISTP™ invites individuals into deeper self-awareness — a compassionate exploration of how inner experience shapes overall well-being.
When we learn to fully inhabit our physical being, we open ourselves to change that is genuine, enduring, and whole. In ISTP™, we attune to the body’s quiet wisdom — a knowing that lives beyond the reach of the intellect.
What ISTP™ Is
Integrative Somatic Therapy Practice (ISTP)™ is a body-centred, spiritually grounded psychotherapy approach for trauma healing. Rooted in humanistic, relational, and spiritual perspectives, ISTP™ supports the emotional, psychological, and spiritual dimensions of recovery.
When body, mind, and spirit come into sacred communion, the inner self becomes more clearly revealed. A sense of balance is gently restored. The body becomes a living vessel of revelation — disclosing dimensions of our being, and of the universe, that often remain veiled in the patterns of ordinary life.
Developed by Ratha Chek, Registered Clinical Counsellor, ISTP™ emerged from an intuitive knowing and thirty years of practice: that healing requires a weaving together of modalities that honour the whole person — body, mind, and spirit. Informed by research and grounded in practice, ISTP™ enhances the body’s innate capacity to heal emotional and physical pain by freeing the body, breath, and energy flow through self-awareness and self-compassion.
The Nine Practices of ISTP™
ISTP™ integrates trauma-informed, bottom-up healing practices into one cohesive path of somatic transformation:
- Mindfulness as Sacred Presence — cultivating awareness with reverence
- Restorative Posture as Relaxation Support — enhancing nervous system regulation through gentle, supported shapes that invite safety, ease, and deep physiological settling
- Breathwork as a Gateway to Healing — accessing deeper layers of experience
- Somatic Bodywork as Embodied Support — restoring connection through touch and sensation
- Embodied Resilience as Inner Steadiness — strengthening the capacity to stay present
- Sound Healing as Vibrational Restoration — harmonizing the nervous system
- Ceremony as Intentional Practice — marking transitions with meaning
- Ancestral Reverence as Connection to Lineage — honouring the wisdom that came before
- Bioenergetic Unwinding as Energetic Release — freeing held patterns in the body
- Processing and Integration as Grounded Transformation — weaving insights into daily life
The Heart of the Work
This practice invites a tender and compassionate relationship with the body — one that supports healing that is integrative, restorative, and enduring. Individuals are gently guided to release trauma held in the body, reconnect with their inner resources, and experience a renewed sense of self‑efficacy. As the body softens and the nervous system finds steadiness, emotional resilience naturally expands, allowing individuals to meet life’s circumstances with greater clarity, openness, and heart.
Through this work, individuals reconnect with their inherent wholeness and rediscover the wisdom that has always lived within them — a quiet, steady knowing that emerges when body, mind, and spirit return to sacred alignment.
Intuitively weaving diverse healing practices, honouring the body, mind, and spirit as one sacred whole.

Learn MoreI am a Registered Clinical Counsellor and the founder of Integrative Somatic Therapy Practice (ISTP)™, the Integrative Somatic Studies Institute, and the Body Mind Soul Healing Centre. For over 30 years, I have walked alongside individuals on their healing journeys, bringing the depth of counselling, psychotherapy, and trauma‑informed wisdom into my training, mentorship, and clinical supervision. My formal education in Counselling Psychology is complemented by teachings in Therapeutic Yoga, Breathwork, Thai Yoga Massage, Bodywork, and Shamanic practice — pathways that have shaped my understanding of healing as a sacred, embodied, and intuitive process.
In my early years of practice, I came to recognize a profound truth: when healing focuses solely on the mind, the body’s voice is often left unheard. The mind can distract, protect, or obscure — but the body never lies. It speaks in sensation, breath, and energy. It carries our stories, our wounds, and our wisdom. When we learn to listen, the body becomes a sacred guide.
Through years of sitting with clients, I witnessed again and again that disconnection from the body sustains suffering, while reconnection awakens healing, clarity, and wholeness. This understanding became the foundation of ISTP™ — a practice that weaves diverse healing traditions into one cohesive, spiritually grounded path for releasing body‑stored trauma.
While many treatment models remain separate, ISTP™ honours the sacred interconnectedness of body, mind, and spirit. It is a return to the ancient truth that healing is not linear — it is relational, intuitive, and deeply embodied.
For many of my clients, I am often their last stop — a role I hold with humility and reverence. I am continually inspired by their courage, their resilience, and the profound transformations that unfold when the body is received again as a sacred companion.
